Boaz, converted to the model of steadfast love, becomes both redeemer and levir for Ruth and thus fulfills the Torah. In the conclusion to his study, the author sketches some parallels with Jesus' hermeneutics of the Law as well as postmodern problems and solutions.

K. C. Hanson received his M.A. and Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate School (now University) and taught Old Testament and New Testament in several small colleges, seminaries, and universities. A leading authority in social-scientific studies of the Bible, he served as senior editor for biblical studies at Fortress Press (1998-2005) prior to taking his present position as editor in chief at Wipf and Stock Publishers (2005-)
