Part of the prestigious NSPCC Wiley Series in Protecting Children, Safeguarding Children: A Shared Responsibility takes the form of a reader and is designed to accompany the training materials commissioned by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and produced by the NSPCC for professionals working with children. Divided into two sections, it covers the essentials of all work with children and families, and offers guidance on the process of safeguarding children. The book guides professionals through the processes of identifying and reporting child abuse and details of what happens at each stage. Although aimed primarily at social workers, the book takes a multi-disciplinary approach, and is of use to those in related professions.
Hedy Cleaver is Emeritus Professor at Royal Holloway, UK. Pat Cawson is a freelance consultant, formerly Head of the Child Protection Research Unit at the NSPCC. Sarah Gorin is a Senior Research Officer at the NSPCC. Steve Walker is the Head of Child and Family Services for the City and County of Swansea.
