Das Buch behandelt das Thema "Sicherheitsziele und Schutzaspekte als Grundlage für Technische Standards in Europa - dargestellt am Beispiel druckführender Umschließungen". Es umfasst die Ergebnisse einer internationalen Tagung der Gottlieb Daimler- und Karl Benz-Stiftung am 2. Mai 1990 in Ladenburg, an der Fachleute aus vier Ländern der Europäischen Gemeinschaft und einem EFTA-Mitgliedsland teilgenommen haben. Das Buch behandelt das Thema "Sicherheitsziele und Schutzaspekte als Grundlage für Technische Standards in Europa - dargestellt am Beispiel druckführender Umschließungen". Es umfasst die Ergebnisse einer internationalen Tagung der Gottlieb Daimler- und Karl Benz-Stiftung am 2. Mai 1990 in Ladenburg, an der Fachleute aus vier Ländern der Europäischen Gemeinschaft und einem EFTA-Mitgliedsland teilgenommen haben. Hintergrund der durch das Kolleg "Sicherheit von Technik" veranlassten Veranstaltung waren die derzeitigen Bestrebungen der Europäischen Kommission, die gesetzlichen Regelungen und daraus abgeleitete technische Normen zum Schutz vor nachteiligen Wirkungen technischer Einrichtungen mit Blick auf den gemeinsamen Markt ab 1993 zu vereinheitlichen. Angesichts der oft durch unklare Zielvorgaben bedingten kontroversen Arbeit in den Normungsgremien CEN und CENELEC, insbesondere auch für den Bereich der Druckbehältertechnik, sollte geklärt werden, ob und wann, worin und wie stark sich nationale Zielsetzungen unterscheiden.
