Why Do Good Stories Cause Such Pleasure? Find the answer here through tales of wrongs and justice, mystery and mirth, the supernatural and the down to earth. Lawyers' antics match those of doctors, and real-life dilemmas follow school days' remembrances-as the Storyteller touches upon both familiar and very strange ground. Paul Cline recalls the importance of stories from his earliest days and hopes to pass on this enjoyment to all ages of readers. Read to see what happens to:The old sailing ships who sail only to render assistance to those in need. The woman who returns to see that the son and husband of her past life are united. The English teacher-farmer who incorporates his cows, and others, in his Shakespearean productions. The man who went for an eye exam but found the oldest practicing eye doctor. The lawyer whose office is his motorcycle. Cline's recent books are Second Fiddles, describing historical and fictional characters who spend their careers in the shadows aiding those in charge; and He Was Just Sittin' There, stories that make us laugh, find surprises, and cause us to pause and reflect.
Paul C. Cline is a retired university professor and author of Second Fiddles: Prime Examples of Strength in the Shadows, describing those real life and fictional persons who spend a career in the shadows aiding those in charge, such as Bobby to JFK, Eleanor to FDR, Watson to Holmes, and Aaron to Moses; and He Was Just Sittin' There and Other Stories, a collection of short stories that make us laugh, find surprise, and cause us to pause and reflect. He worked in his earlier life as a printer's devil and in a paper mill. He served in Army Intelligence and practiced law for a time. He holds law and doctor of philosophy degrees and has held various public offices, including in the Virginia House of Delegates. He and Diane have two daughters, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
