Sagittarius X-6 (Sgr X-6, Sgr 6) is an X-ray source that may be 2U 1728-24 (GX 1+4). 2U 1728-24 has a visual counterpart V2116 Oph and the system is a LMXB. It has been observed by Ariel 5, HEAO 1, ROSAT, SAS-2, and Uhuru. It was subsequently observed before August 27, 1973, at 3U 1744-26, and before January 12, 1974, at 4U 1744-26. Although designated as the first X-ray source to be detected and confirmed in the constellation Sagittarius, it was not. Sagittarius XR-1 was detected earlier on June 16, 1964.
