Have you asked the "keeper of your family recipes" to write down your favorite family recipes so you can recreate them? If you have not, you should ASAP! Sheri is her family’s historian and genetic genealogist with a commitment to preservation traditions. In 1985, Sheri asked her mother to author cards so she could enjoy making them herself. In beautiful cursive writing, the art of baking along the tip of her pen unfolded. Ingredients and instructions to prepare baked goods like, "Grandma Cake," "Grandma Rolls, "along with "Grandma’s Bread and Butter Pickles" are available now. Folks in our family speak with a drawl and share stories of great grandparents that ate "brains and eggs" and Possum along with other fare known to the "American South." Teaching the next generation is key to the longevity of these delicious treasures. Your versions of these delights will have your family and friends coming back for more.
Raised on family recipes under the direction of grandmothers, aunts and her mother she grew to find her passion was in baking. Passing this along to the next generations is key to her, and this book is her attempt to share a bit of her heritage with the world. She is a mother, grandmother, sister and aunt that carries on these traditions daily. Sheri Savory, the Author, is a Genetic Genealogist, Mother, Grandma, and Baker. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California with her daughter and two granddaughters. Sheri's ancestors came to America in the early 1600's in New England then on to Maryland where her ancestor (8x great grandfather) laid out the streets of Baltimore, Maryland and many other cities as they pioneered across the country. Along with their pots, pans, dishes, and cookbooks, they brought the traditions of their ancestors.
