This book argues that people outside of formal religious groups seek spiritual meaning through alternative communities. Through ethnographic research of one such community of artists, the book illustrates how this community, largely unaffiliated with traditional religion but who are "spiritual but not religious," use both the community connection and technologies like Facebook and blogs to pursue spirituality, often replacing the role of a more traditional religious group.
