Shirley H. Scarborough, born on October 12, 1959, in Elmont, Virginia, is a beacon of faith, resilience, and love. The 11th of 17 siblings, she graduated from the Hanover County Public School System and studied Early Childhood Development at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. For over 44 years, she has been married to her loving husband, Robert Scarborough Jr., and together they've raised their children: Pastor Robert Scarborough III, LaShara Foster, the late Francesca Harris-Scarborough, and son-in-love Arek Foster Sr. Shirley is also a proud grandmother to Sa'Riyah, Ka'mari, and AJ. Shirley answered the call to ministry in 1998 as an Evangelist and has served faithfully at The Word Church International Ministries for over 18 years, leading the Women's Fellowship under her son's pastorship. Known for her compassionate heart and prayerful spirit, she has dedicated her life to supporting women, families, and marriages.Her passion for children led her to co-found Signs and Wonders Daycare/Learning Center LLC in 1998, a state-licensed childcare center that has thrived for over 26 years. Her love for crafting led her to establish STITCHES OF LOVE, creating handmade gifts and floral arrangements in memory of her late mother.In 2020, Shirley faced unimaginable grief when her daughter Francesca and her unborn grandchild were tragically taken from her. Determined to turn her pain into purpose, Shirley founded Cry Loud, Spare Not, Speak Up, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women affected by domestic violence and abuse. This initiative provides education, support, and resources, encouraging women to break the silence, reclaim their voices, and recognize their worth. Each year, near the anniversary of Francesca's death, Shirley hosts the "I Am Enough, I Know My Worth" conference, which inspires women and girls, aged 12 and older, to embrace self-esteem and empowerment.Shirley's commitment and impact have garnered widespread recognition. She has been featured in the Richmond Free Press as "Personality of the Week," interviewed by CBS6, and highlighted in Bold Journey Magazine. In 2024, she was honored as a Hometown Hero for her tireless dedication to her faith, family, and community.Through every triumph and challenge, Shirley H.
