Barchelle ("Chelly") Bolger Wathen is a spirited storyteller, animal advocate, and native San Diegan currently living in Prescott, Arizona. A retired City of San Diego senior paralegal with a Master of Public Administration degree, now working as a State Ombudsman. She has a passion for rescue work and volunteers with local dog rescues. Her writing reflects her journey from career and education to emotional depth and spiritual insight, through the redemptive bond of animal companionship. Her book series Shayla & Friends (teen/adult genre), and Shayla's Adventure (children's stories) focus on the true and fictional inspirational story of her own dog, Shayla, who journeyed from a Ukrainian orphanage to her forever family in America. Shared heartfelt stories of loss, abandonment, and a Father's love, create a trusted bond of family.
