Mélanie Zigman a récemment pris sa retraite et a décidé de poursuivre sa passion en écrivant un livre pour enfants. La grande aventure de Cara est inspiré d'une histoire vraie, et le concept des les livres Side by Side Books, est né d'une conversation autour de l'évasion mouvementée de la tortue de sa propre famille, une expérience qui, bien que terrifiante pour la famille, a dû être très amusante pour la tortue. Lorsqu'elle n'écrit pas, Mélanie aime faire du kayak, de la randonnée et du bénévolat. Elle vit à Collingwood, en Ontario.
