Simon Kernick, geb. 1966 in der Gegend von London, versuchte sich nach der Schule in mehreren Jobs, bevor er mehrere Jahre durch die Welt reiste. In den 90er-Jahren verdingte er sich als Barmann und später als Computersoftware-Verkäufer. Unzufrieden mit dieser Situation, machte er mit seinem alten Hobby, dem Geschichtenschreiben, ernst und schrieb zwei Sachbücher. Doch erst mit seinem ersten Thriller gelang ihm 2002 in England der Durchbruch. Mittlerweile zählt er dort zu den erfolgreichsten Krimiautoren und wurde für mehrere Awards nominiert. Seine Bücher sind in dreizehn Sprachen erschienen. Simon Kernick lebt in der Nähe von London und hat zwei Kinder. Die Authentizität seiner Romane ist seiner intensiven Recherche zu verdanken. Im Laufe der Jahre hat er eine außergewöhnlich lange Liste von Kontakten zur Polizei aufgebaut. Sie umfasst erfahrene Beamte der Special Branch, der National Crime Squad (heute SOCA) und der Anti-Terror-Abteilung. Mit Gnadenlos (Relentless) gelang ihm international der Durchbruch, mittlerweile zählt er in Großbritannien zu den erfolgreichsten Thrillerautoren und wurde für mehrere Awards nominiert. Seine Bücher sind in dreizehn Sprachen erschienen.
