Produktbeschreibung
With an appetite for describing the indescribable, Scarlett Brooks takes on the personal challenge to divulge the depths of her own psyche in her first collection of poetry, Silk Dreams. Taboo, emotionally intense, and visually stimulating, Silk Dreams taps into the hidden parts of herself that were once kept locked away. During the end of her marriage, Brooks found the courage to explore everything she once suppressed. It was the year of "The Dive"-constant leaps of faith without knowing where she would land. These leaps became the very essence of her metamorphosis, welcoming true authenticity into her life. Within this transformative period came the birth of the raw expressions in Silk Dreams. Filled with newly revealed people, places, and emotions, readers will walk with Brooks as she regains back the power which so many tried to tear down. Just like her creativity, her sensuality is a part of her. Brooks is fascinated with sexual feelings as well as the mysterious forces beyond mere physical attraction which draws two people together. With Silk Dreams, walking on eggshells became a thing of the past, as she got outside her comfort zone and faced difficult truths. Brooks grew tired of hiding who she was, limiting her desires to what was suitable and appropriate for others. There was aways a part of herself which she kept hidden, doing a disservice to herself and her true destiny. Silk dreams breaks down her own barriers revealing true inner desires, longing, self-love, intense emotions-and energy, comfort, and safety in her inexplicable connections with other women.
Autorenporträt
Filled with empathy for others, Scarlett Brooks carries a unique tenacity in face of life's adversities. Fearless in her own emotional exploration of her shadow self, she has had a knack for self-healing since her teen years. A lover of creative writing, music, nature, psychology, self-growth, and taboo topics, Brooks found herself allowing her words to flow freely in serene places of solitude. Expressing her heart page by page, letting go of control became a new norm she embraced with open arms. Writing stood as the pillar, the lighthouse calling her home, her catharsis to whatever life threw her way. Whether direct or not, Brooks always felt the inner desire to help other women find their self-worth and remind them of their beauty despite how the world has challenged them. Even though society has come far for women, more women than not are still undermined, making them feel inadequate and negatively view their differences that should be celebrated and embraced. Scarlet, however, wants to bring a powerful message that women are worthy of it all, to not settle in their desires and encourage women to bring out the best parts of themselves. Often the best parts are the little things-it is our quirks that makes us authentically beautiful and the power of our sensuality is transformative. Her new publication, Silk Dreams was a catalyst of transformation amidst the ending an unhealthy marriage, rediscovering herself, and regaining the full control of the freedom and autonomy she had longed for. A wild soul with a heightened sexual appetite, Brooks is on a journey of passion and heat. No ordinary woman, she doesn't want to fit in or be front and center-she wants to make a difference for women as she honors the incredible impact they have had on her life.
