Gary Scharnhorst is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of English at the University of New Mexico. He is the author or editor of more than thirty books and editor of the journal American Literary Realism. Matthew Hofer is an associate professor of English at the University of New Mexico. He coedited, with Gary Scharnhorst, Oscar Wilde in America and has published essays in Modernism/ Modernity, Contemporary Literature, New German Critique, and American Literary Scholarship.
