Singer-songwriter and musician Leanne Murphy has been teaching music in many settings since graduating from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Music Education in 1996. She delights in sharing fun, uplifting and warm-hearted songs in good company, accompanied by her trusty traveling ukulele. Leanne has run singing and ukulele sessions, events and workshops in a range of community music settings around Victoria and NSW, and her compositions can be found in various publications including Sing It (Community Music Victoria, 2015). Her wide range of interests has also seen her touring as a solo children's puppeteer (Purpletown Puppets, Noodlybark Puppets), winning awards for her vibrant pastel paintings, hiking and camping along many of Victoria's beautiful wild tracks, and most recently studying remedial massage, personal training and myotherapy. In 2021, Leanne was awarded an UNLOCKED grant from Murray Arts to compile her first book of original songs for community singing. This collection is underpinned by a deeply felt desire to create harmony and communion with others on many levels, creating a vehicle to uplift community musicians from all walks of life.
