We all know Sir Pigglesworth loves to fly on airplanes, but in Sir Pigglesworth's Adventures in New York City, your favorite flying pig goes airborne on his own ... over the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! And, did you know that pigs were natural-born ice skaters? What?! Still, in search of Sir Pigglesworth's parents, the master of mischief and his tour guide and friend JoAnn travel to the hustling, bustling metropolis of New York City for some holiday sightseeing and new rollicking, side-splitting adventures at New York's most famous landmarks. If you thought Sir Pigglesworth's Adventures in Vancouver was funny, Sir Pigglesworth takes this adventure over the top ... (literally!), when he accidentally sucks helium; instead of water at the Macy's Parade and ends up floating over the cheering children at the parade! And you know pigs love to dance, so you can imagine what might happen when Sir Pigglesworth visits the Radio City Music Hall to see the Rockettes. Yikes! In perhaps the most touching and educational volume of this series, Sir Pigglesworth also visits important NYC landmarks and learns the history behind the tragedy and sadness of the 9/11 attacks at the 9/11 Memorial Museum, feels his patriotism grow at Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, and says a prayer to help him find his parents at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Will it work...? The Sir Pigglesworth Adventure Series has quickly become a favorite of teachers, parents, and grandparents for teaching kids about geography and cultures, and kids can't get enough of the funny pig and his crazy adventures. Next stop ... the fabulous island of Royal Pigs, in Sir Pigglesworth's Adventures in Pigonia! Are those real pirate ships heading towards Pigonia?!
Autorenporträt
JoAnn Wagner was born in New York in 1951 and grew up outside New York City. She spent 20 years upstate in Kingston, NY, before moving to Mesquite, TX, a suburb of Dallas, in 1986. She recently retired, having worked for 25 years at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Her hobbies include kickboxing, reading, cruising, yoga, and writing. JoAnn is married, and she and her husband have five wonderful children and six beautiful, rambunctious grandchildren. The "Sir Pigglesworth's Adventure Series" was born when JoAnn's church gave out a flying pig stress ball for the congregation to take around over the summer and post pictures on Facebook. People smiled and laughed everywhere she went and were excited to have their photo taken with Sir Pigglesworth, as she dubbed the pig. The idea blossomed until it became clear that Sir Pigglesworth's adventures needed to be shared with children worldwide. JoAnn does book readings at schools, libraries, and churches. Since kids like to get "stuff," JoAnn gives them custom-made Sir Pigglesworth bookmarks written in English on one side and Spanish on the other.Great, affordable gift for kids!
