SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES OF RURAL WALLO, ETHIOPIA This is an autobiographical narrative on the social, economic and historical perspectives of North East Ethiopia, North Wollo, Meket. This study is based on the autobiographical narrative of three elderly people using narrative research, in depth interview, case studies, oral history and a brief review of the literature. The study mainly focused on the life styles, Italian invasion and Ethiopian patriotic struggle (1935-41), subsequent Imperial Era, the Dergue period, early marriage, rural economy, community capacity to respond to human and animal health disasters, organic cosmetics, traditional (local) beliefs etc. The study unveiled the developments after Ethiopian People's Democratic Front (EPRDF) took power in 1991, the change in the government system, health, education, water, sanitation, democratization, decentralization of power and gender equity were very well articulated among others. The analysis mainly focused on selected themes where the patriotic struggle, peasant rebellion, early marriage and life of woman, education and health situation of the community.
