LINDA HANTRAIS holds a chair in the Department of European Studies at Loughborough University. She is Director of its European Research Centre and convenor of the Cross-National Research Group. Her research interests are in comparative, cross-national research, particularly with reference to social policy in the European Union. Her publications include Gendered Policies in Europe' and Families and Family Policies in Europe'.
