According to the National Center of Historical Memory (2018) the Colombian armed conflict affected Colombian daily life for more than 50 years, and the school was no stranger to its impacts. The country's students, especially those in rural areas, suffered directly or indirectly its consequences. Hence, the general objective of this research is to analyze the social representations of the armed conflict and its incidence on the academic performance of the students of the Espíritu Santo Educational Institution, El Carmen de Bolívar, using a qualitative approach and a semi-structured interview that took into account the categories of the topic: Social Representations, Armed Conflict and Academic Performance. As results, the social representations of the students regarding the armed conflict had to do with death, displacement, blood, school dropout, loss of loved ones, sadness and pain; and that these influenced their academic performance in the different areas, reflected in levels of aggression, written and verbal expressions.
