Some Lines in Verse about Shakers: Not Published by Authority of the Society So Called is a book written by Charlotte Cushman in 1846. The book is a collection of poems that explore the beliefs and practices of the Shaker religious community. Cushman, who was a well-known actress and supporter of the Shaker movement, wrote the poems as a way to express her admiration for the Shakers and their way of life. The book is not an official publication of the Shaker society, but rather a personal work by Cushman. Through her poetry, she explores the Shaker's beliefs in celibacy, communal living, and the separation of genders. She also touches on their unique forms of worship, which include dancing and singing. Some Lines in Verse about Shakers offers a unique perspective on the Shaker community and their beliefs, as seen through the eyes of an outsider who was deeply inspired by their way of life. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
