"Sound of My Voice" is the poetic journey of one Black woman's lived experience; from the little black girl to the layered Black woman she has become. Aafroqween (Fisiwe Zwana Freeman) is a poet, spoken word artist, vocalist, and published author of a collection of poems entitled lovewords: poetry from a place called love. She is the Founder and first Host of The Sugar Shack Café Open Mic Showcase and was one of the hosts of Hottest Poets Open Mic at Mocha Lounge, in Harlem NY. Aafroqween has performed from Canada to Atlanta. She is a member of the Spoken Word-Song and Dance Trio, Precious Gift (with Tantra Zawadi and Iyapiphany), who released their Selling My Diamonds poetry album at Danny Simmons' Corridor Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. She was a featured voice on Talaam Acey's Morally Bankrupt Volume One: The Wickedest Man In Babylon and Mood Demystify, Queen Sheba's Domino Effect, and Les Nubians Presents -Echos- Chapter One "Nubian Voyager". She released a joint project Natural-Bring That Poem Home with bandmate Tantra Zawadi. Aafroqween's work as a poet is a journey of discovery through voice.
