The sacrifices made to continue employment as a fishermen were many. Being at sea, away from loved ones, for up to 3 months at a time was very difficult. Although very important to me, family life suffered when sadly I missed many of my children's 'special occasions' whilst at sea. I tried to make it up to them whist I was at home. I have now retired as a tour guide, although I still have the opportunity to work the odd day as I enjoy passing on my experiences to the public. I hope you enjoy my account of life at sea. Unfortunately, many fishermen went to sea but never return. The sacrifice they made was ALL FOR THE PRICE OF FISH. They should NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
