My book, "Spatial Market Integration and Price Transmission of Groundnuts Markets in Ethiopia," analyzes the spatial price transmission and market integration within Ethiopia's groundnut market using monthly retail price data from 2000 to 2022. It applies descriptive statistics and econometric methods, including unit root, cointegration, and nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) models, to evaluate price behavior across key markets. Findings reveal higher consumer prices in urban areas like Dire Dawa and Addis Ababa, and lower prices in producing regions. The study confirms long-run cointegration in all market pairs and identifies asymmetric price transmission in two pairs, where prices adjust more rapidly to increases than decreases. The research highlights the effects of geography, distance, and production levels on market integration and offers insights for improving agricultural marketing policies in Ethiopia.
