This book, like its predecessor - Special Reconnaissance and Advanced Small Unit Patrolling - should become the bible on Partisan/Guerilla operations. Organized and written in a terse military style, somewhat like a military Field Manual, this will be the ultimate reference on the subject of unconventional warfare. The book will explore mission areas at both the operational and strategic level in enemy dominated areas of operation, focusing on stealth for survival and battlefield success. The book will also include historical references and first-person narratives to analyze successes and failures. Similarly structured to this first book, the proposed book will also draw from Lessons-Learned and TTPs derived from operations conducted by the legendary Military Advisory Command Vietnam - Studies and Operations Group (MACV-SOG). These operations entail Direct Action (including Target Acquisition, Sabotage, Ambush, Raid, Interdiction/Area Denial, Prisoner of War Snatch Operations, Downed Aircrews Rescue, Psychological Warfare methods and materials and other high-risk tasks.
Ed Wolcoff enlisted in the Army in September 1967. He excelled in various elite military programs, including the Special Forces Qualification Course, and served with distinction in MACV SOG in Vietnam. After his military service, he continued to contribute to national security, commanding units, managing classified programs, and eventually rising to Senior Vice President in the Defense sector. With a wealth of experience, he also served as a consultant in the National Security Sector before retirement. A decorated veteran with years of experience as a team leader in aggressive, cross-border operations, Wolcoff is uniquely qualified to present this invaluable document for Special Operations personnel.
