Political education has the task of enabling people to recognize their social position and interests and to be able to judge and subsequently act on their political problems. This requires an understanding of political, social and economic processes and structures, the connection between interests and politics and the causes and function of ideologies. As in all social science subject areas, there are interdisciplinary subject areas that are defined differently. They can be summarized as social relations, democratic order and political decision-making, national and international politics, peacekeeping, legal order, economic order and economic policy, media, work and occupation or pre-vocational education ("vocational orientation") and comparison of political systems. The article will look at examples of pre-vocational education in the context of political education.
