Produktbeschreibung
Ashley Ondrick—known to many as A (Mostly) Healthy Chef—spent decades battling chronic illness, pain, and self-doubt. Through faith, food, and perseverance, she discovered that healing isn’t about perfection but about redemption. Speranza is her story of rising from brokenness to wholeness, reminding readers that even in life’s darkest moments, hope has a recipe. A chronically ill chef discovers that hope, like a good meal, can nourish even the most broken soul. Born with a severe mineral deficiency, A (Mostly) Healthy Chef, Ashley Ondrick entered the world fragile and fighting. A devastating fall that broke her tailbone led to the discovery of a connective tissue disorder, sparking a cascade of medical crises—eleven surgeries, chronic pain, and a relentless battle with Lyme disease. As if her physical trials weren’t enough, anorexia and exhaustion from constant illness tested her spirit to its limits. But the deepest wound wasn’t one doctors could see. As a child, Ashley overheard an offhand remark that made her believe she was unwanted. That quiet lie took root, shaping her sense of worth, her choices, and her search for love and purpose. Through decades of pain, Ashley refused to surrender. Her faith in God deepened with each hardship, transforming suffering into strength and despair into devotion. She discovered that no amount of brokenness is beyond God’s power to redeem. As a personal chef and wellness coach, Ashley found healing in the kitchen—crafting meals that nourished both body and soul. Her journey also led her across the world, from Italy to the Philippines to Singapore, where food, faith, and service intertwined. Speranza—Italian for hope—is more than a memoir. It’s a feast for the senses and a testament to grace. For anyone living with chronic illness or aching for renewal, Ashley’s story offers comfort, courage, and the reminder that even in our weakest moments, hope can rise.
Autorenporträt
Ashley Ondrick is a personal chef, health coach, and storyteller whose journey through pain, healing, and resilience has shaped every aspect of her life and work. While studying economics and finance, a semester abroad forever altered her path, awakening her to the beauty of her Creator and igniting her culinary aspirations. After refining her craft in kitchens from Italy to New York City to Singapore, Ashley spent years executing farm-to-table events in the greater Boston area. She later founded A (Mostly) Healthy Chef in Tampa Bay, where she helps clients use food as both medicine and celebration—teaching them to eat with intention, gain confidence in the kitchen, and reclaim ownership of their health. A longtime advocate for the transformative power of microfinance, Ashley spent a year living in the Philippines and traveling throughout Southeast Asia. Her volunteer work in this field has continued for nearly two decades. Remarkably, Ashley has also faced immense physical challenges, including a connective tissue disorder, anorexia, Lyme disease, and chronic pain. In writing Speranza, she felt called to share her arduous yet faith-filled journey to give her suffering purpose and invite others to do the same. Through years of healing—and the tension between control and surrender—she has dismantled false beliefs about her worth and God’s love, ultimately discovering the wholeness she had been seeking all along.
