The congregation grew during his pastorate from two hundred members to more than five thousand, moving to the Metropolitan Tabernacle in 1861. Many of Spurgeon's sermons were published each week and regularly sold more than twenty-five thousand copies in twenty languages. Spurgeon also founded the Pastor's College (now Spurgeon's College), various orphanages and schools, mission chapels, and numerous other social institutions.
