A tragic loss. An unconventional plan. A heartwarming fight to keep a family together. When a sudden accident claims the lives of Jackie and Blake, their two young daughters are left orphaned-and the guardians named in the will are anything but traditional. Jake, a buttoned-up uncle reeling from heartbreak, and Tyler, a free-spirited loner with no parenting experience, are thrust together under one roof. Their mission? Raise the girls in the only home they've ever known-and somehow, make it work. As grief tests their resolve and family tensions flare, the unlikely co-guardians must navigate teenage angst, nosy relatives, late-night school projects, and the weight of a promise made by the dead. But in the chaos, something extraordinary begins to emerge: resilience, healing, and a new kind of family forged in the fire of love and loss. Stand in the Box is an emotionally rich, sharply observed novel about what it means to step up when life falls apart-and how sometimes, the most unexpected people are exactly who we need.
