Three of his books were adapted into films, demonstrating the lasting impact of his writing. Lynde passed away in 1930 at the age of 74 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. His literary legacy is preserved through a collection of his papers housed at the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library.
