HERE IS A BLURB TO BE DELETED For sure! This is Indigo making life unnecessarily complicated for indie authors again... Like we discussed before, as this is 'consignment' rather than a wholesale purchase, so the details are yours. Some authors do set themselves up as 'sole proprietorships' and make their books a small business, but there is no real advantage to doing that unless you are making a real income from your sales. In this sense, yes the company info would be your own address, and your own banking information so they can pay you the royalties. As for tax, you *can* register for GST at any point, but you only *have to* register if you are turning over about $10,000 a month in sales! Which is a lot of books, haha... I have registered Pete's Press for the sake of legitimacy, but you can be certain I am not making that much either, even with the whole company. The advantage of registering is that you can then reclaim the GST you spend on getting the books printed. But as the books cost $5ish to print, reclaiming 25cents per book is hardly worth it at this point. Of note, there is no PST on books! Again, technically, you should declare your 'income' from book sales and royalties on your tax return eventually, but until you're making serious money, it's not really worth worrying about. The CRA only need to be involved when you do your return in April. All this is to say, you just need to tell Indigo that you are NOT registered for GST , but that you need receipts from them for your personal income tax records. That should cover you easily enough.
