Es licenciada en Química Industrial por la Universidad Federal de Maranhão (1980), máster en Tecnología de los Alimentos por la Universidad Federal de Ceará (1996) y doctora en Ciencias de la Alimentación por la Universidad Federal de Lavras (2004). Actualmente es Profesora Asociada III en el Departamento de Tecnología Química de la UFMA.
