Over the past twenty years, universities, companies, and research centers in developed countries have been committed to finding alternative fuels that eliminate or at least reduce the environmental impact of fossil fuels. Among these alternatives, dimethyl ether (DME) has recently attracted attention and sparked interest. This book presents a systematic and detailed discussion of the applicability of Al-Cu-Fe quasicrystals in methanol oxidation reactions, through which dimethyl ether is obtained. Hydrogen fuel is one of the alternatives for environmental sustainability. One of the prospects and technological innovations is to reach a large market that is the petroleum industry and its derivatives, or rather the petrochemical industry. In this study, the Al-Cu-Fe quasicrystalline alloy, prepared by casting and heat treated, was subjected to catalytic activity tests. The experimental results obtained suggest that the quasicrystal catalyst can be considered an excellent alternative for catalytic reactions. The low cost of alloy formation is another advantage of using quasicrystals as industrial catalysts.
Oba projekty maj¿ zastosowanie w przemy¿le petrochemicznym.
