Lawrence W. Powers, writing fiction as L. Wade Powers, has been on the planet for quite some time and has been observed aging accordingly. Despite this mortal handicap, he has enjoyed a rich and rewarding life. After receiving a master's degree in biology from the University of Oregon and a PhD in zoology from the University of Texas, he spent much of his life engaging in marine biology, specializing in behavioral ecology and teaching laboratory medicine. He retired in 2013 from the Oregon Institute of Technology where he was an academic dean and professor of natural sciences for twenty years. Pursuing a passion for local Western history and culture, Larry served for five years as a contributing editor for the Journal of the Shaw Historical Library based in southern Oregon. He is a member of and contributor to the Northwest Independent Writers Association (NIWA).Distortions of reality comprise much of his fiction-previous novels and short story collections are listed before the title page. His favorite topics include adolescent musings and doings, lucid dreams, time travel and androids, future dystopias, a dash of gothic horror, adult contemporary fiction, and reflections on why we do what we do or don't.Larry lives in southeastern Oregon with his bright and beautiful wife and enjoys the natural splendor of the high desert plains and nearby Cascades.
