This study contributes to the topic of sustainability by identifying sustainable actions and verifying how they are developed by the beef refrigeration export industry in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Analysis of the social dimension revealed that companies with better economic performance tend to invest more in strategies that directly involve employees with benefits and professional training, and society with programs to promote diversity and the company's participation in the surrounding community. However, other important components of the social dimension, such as monitoring employee satisfaction and certifications of workplace safety and social responsibility standards, are not part of the current strategies of the industries surveyed. With regard to the environmental issue, it was observed that the legislation of the sector is complied with by the industries surveyed, regardless of their economic or social situation. In the economic dimension, it was observed that the meatpacking industries surveyed have a stable financial situation.
