These beautiful, atmospheric photographs were taken by Jeff Dworsky, a part time resident of Carriacou, before the devasting hurricane of July 1, 2024 . A disaster that has now permanently changed the island. The photographs show a beautiful island unspoiled by tourism with the local islanders going about life as they have seemingly forever: fishing from sailing boats, growing food in the rough island environment, gathering for casual social events and religious and cultural events that harken back to a time that most of the Caribbean has forgotten. Peter Ralston, the well-known Maine coastal photographer and commentator said “Jeff Dworsky is, hands down, one of the very finest photographers I have ever met...and I have lived photography my entire life. He works from deep within the world he inhabits and that, combined with his big/gruff/tender heart makes for individual images that tell whole stories.”
