In this paper I describe the research conducted during my 11-month stay in the community. I analyze the life of contemporary Nahua women (maseualsiuamej) from their customs and traditions. I begin with the stage of adolescence, courtship, marriage, pregnancy. Experiences of childbirth and cases of obstetric negligence and violence faced by women who give birth in a western medical institution. I also deal with the topic of child rearing within the maseual custom and how motherhood is practiced in the community.
