Tales for Samhain is the illustrated, short story collection entwining Celtic Mythology with the art of botanical painting, creating eerie tales of mystical Irish plants and berries with magic enough to alter human lives! STORY DESCRIPTION Before there was Hallowe'en, there was Samhain. Samhain, ancient Celtic festival of autumnal fire. The night when worldly boundaries split open to let gods, spirits and other beings roam within the human dimension. And so it happens that on the Feast of Samhain Fr Éamonn receives a mysterious visitor at his ivy-covered church. The stranger makes a deceptively simple request: Celebrate Holy Mass in memory of seven departed souls. Who were these people, that their souls want for a Christian Mass during this pagan feast of fire? How did the metaphysical forces of Ivy or Blackberry, Dog Rose or Yew, shape their lives? And why does it matter now?
Autorenporträt
A native of Poland, Kasia studied Russian Language and Literature. Entranced by myth and fairy tales, her dissertation explored the topic of magical creatures in Slavic folklore. It wasn't long before she joined her best friend, Gabriela Piątek in County Wicklow, Ireland. The breathtaking landscapes and magic-filled culture were the fertile sources from which she launched her creative writing and painting. Kasia now lives in Swords, County Dublin, with her husband, Conor, and has been adopted by the neighbour's cat. She continues to write stories and create botanical paintings featuring native Irish plants, especially those featured in Celtic folklore. This is Kasia's first published book, and the first publication to feature her botanical art.
