Autorenporträt
Howard Pease, born on 6 September 1894 in Stockton, California, was an American author known for his adventure stories that captured the imagination of readers during the early and mid-20th century. His writing often centered on maritime life, with many of his works following the experiences of a young protagonist who embarked on voyages aboard tramp freighters during the interwar period. These stories reflected Pease's keen interest in the sea and the lives of those who worked upon it, offering vivid depictions of adventure, camaraderie, and the challenges faced by sailors navigating uncertain waters. His narratives combined action with thoughtful explorations of human resilience and the complexities of growing up in a world shaped by shifting global events. Pease's detailed and engaging style earned him recognition among readers of adventure fiction. He continued to write and contribute to literature until his passing on 14 April 1974 in San Rafael, California, at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy of works that celebrated maritime adventure and youthful determination.
