Il est titulaire d'une licence en bibliothéconomie, d'une spécialisation en innovation et diffusion technologique et d'une maîtrise en travail social. Il est professeur auxiliaire III à l'université fédérale de Para. Il travaille dans les domaines de l'enseignement, de la recherche et de la vulgarisation, dans le cadre de projets liés à l'Institut des sciences sociales appliquées. Il est l'auteur d'articles dans des périodiques et de chapitres de livres.
