Testosterone is a controversial term for many, including doctors. It is associated with doping, violent assaults against women and macho behaviour. This book presents the scientific basis for testosterone. In addition to the effects and pathology of testosterone deficiency, it also examines issues relating to doping and evolutionary medicine, which may explain the behaviour of testosterone levels over the course of a lifetime. A separate study assesses possible causes of testosterone deficiency: testicular volume

Produktbeschreibung
Testosterone is a controversial term for many, including doctors. It is associated with doping, violent assaults against women and macho behaviour. This book presents the scientific basis for testosterone. In addition to the effects and pathology of testosterone deficiency, it also examines issues relating to doping and evolutionary medicine, which may explain the behaviour of testosterone levels over the course of a lifetime. A separate study assesses possible causes of testosterone deficiency: testicular volume <15 ml, cryptorchidism, infertility and reduced fertility, and vasectomy were found to be risk factors for testosterone deficiency later in life. These results are then discussed in the literature. In another section, objections to testosterone treatment are compiled and discussed in detail on the basis of various scientific publications in Switzerland in recent years.
