In this riveting installment of the acclaimed Luis Mendoza mystery series, The Ace of Spades delivers a masterful blend of suspense, psychological depth, and classic police procedural. Lt. Mendoza specializes in homicides . . . he has brains, uncanny flair, wealth, a passion for justice and Abyssinian cats. When his girlfriend finds her old beat-up jalopy missing, there begins a series of seemingly unrelated events that involves Lt. Mendoza in an apparent suicide by drugs, a mysterious foreign stranger, and a museum heist. As Mendoza grapples with scant clues-A scrap of paper, an old coin, a mysterious woman-danger lurks both Mendoza and the people he cares about. Mendoza's intuition and methodical investigation leads him to unravel secrets and search for motives and a link between all the seemingly disparate events that are taking place. With her signature style and sharp insight into human nature, Dell Shannon-one of the first female authors to break into the hard-boiled detective genre-delivers a taut, intelligent mystery that keeps readers guessing until the final reveal.
