A new animal, an ostrich, has moved into Marshall Township. Excited to have a new neighbor and wanting him to feel welcomed, Bubba and Boo (aka Captain Cutie Pie and Deputy Boo) decide to gather their neighborhood friends together for a surprise welcome party. Eddie, a cat who is the neighborhood prankster, says he has heard that ostriches stick their heads in the sand when they're scared. Bubba and Boo, after doing a little research online, try to explain to Eddie that this idea is just a myth. Wanting to prove himself to be correct, rather than join the welcome party, Eddie devises a mischievous plan to scare the ostrich and see what he does. Bandit, the neighborhood raccoon, joins Eddie in his sneaky endeavor. The discussion around what ostriches do when they're scared acts as a springboard for all the neighborhood friends to discuss things that scare them and how they handle their fears. Our hope is that the playful and entertaining mood of the story will open a dialogue for children to discuss their own fears with their caregivers. With two completely different events developing at the same time and about to come together, we hope we've built suspense and an exciting climax!

Denise, Andrea, and Bubba moved to Marshall Township in December 2013. Boo joined the family in January 2014. The beauty of their new neighborhood and the great diversity of animal life inspired Denise and Andrea to do something they had been talking about for a while - write children's books.
