Merida taught mathematics at the college level before pursuing her artistic dreams. When she isn't working on the novels she co-authors with her mother, Merida writes and illustrates children's books, and creates massive pencil and ink artwork measured in feet, not inches. Her YouTube channel features videos of her actively drawing, and her blog follows her training for and participation in extreme endurance events.
