With years of professional experience as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Robert Levine has combined his deep understanding of human behavior with his passion for sports into a compact, 7-step program. Rooted in established psychological principles, this program is designed to help athletes achieve their maximum potential. The ATHLETE Formula is a practical, user-friendly guide that provides a clear, actionable methodology. It is designed for coaches to help their athletes enhance performance in specific areas. This program includes a system for coaches to support athletes in overcoming physical or emotional setbacks such as slumps, disappointments, and injuries. Athletic success is not solely determined by physical abilities but by the effective use of mental strength. This program aims to help athletes handle inevitable adversity without "choking" or "shrinking" under pressure, enabling them to rise to the occasion in sports or any other endeavors. Whether you are coaching amateur or professional athletes, The ATHLETE Formula offers support beyond the fundamentals.
Autorenporträt
Robert Levine is uniquely qualified to write about performance, resilience, and the psychology of failure. As a licensed clinical psychologist, he has spent years working with high-stakes populations, including law enforcement, the Department of Defense, and service members in his role as a behavioral health officer in the U.S. Army. In private practice, he has helped individuals navigate pressure, stress, and setbacks core components of both competitive sports and everyday life.Across these roles, one theme has stood out: the way people respond to failure often determines their long-term success. This idea sparked his interest in performance psychology and led to the development of the ATHLETE Formula, a program grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy and learning theory. Though designed with athletes in mind, its principles apply far beyond the field. The same mental skills that help players rebound from a bad game can help students recover from academic struggles and professionals regain their footing after workplace setbacks. The spark for The ATHLETE Formula came while helping his son, R.J., improve in soccer. That experience revealed how sports can serve as a powerful, structured model for understanding human behavior. With its immediate feedback and wealth of data, the sports world provides a unique lab for studying resilience, goalsetting, and the psychology of improvement.Robert grew up near Chicago, Illinois, and has been a lifelong sports fan. He now lives in Virginia with his wife, their two children, and the family dog.
