He was also in a long-term relationship with Neith Boyce, starting in 1899. His father, Charles Hutchins Hapgood, had a considerable impact on his upbringing and education. Throughout his career, Hapgood expressed strong anarchist beliefs, which were evident in his writing and activism. His works continue to be studied for their unique perspective on individual freedom and social change, establishing him as an important figure in both literature and political thought.
