The Bhagavadgita Original Commentary: Unveiling the Gita's Secrets is one of the most comprehensive commentaries on the Bhagavadgita in recent times. Jayaram V published a commentary earlier in 2011 under the title The Bhagavadgita Complete Translation. Jayaram V spent three years and published a new edition in 2024 under the new title, Bhagavadgita: Unveiling The Gita's Secrets, completely and thoroughly revising his earlier commentary and providing an in-depth analysis of each sloka and yoga, citing relevant information from classical commentators like Shankaracharya and Madhavacharya, as well as ancient texts such as the Yogasutras and the Upanishads. He also offered a detailed historical background of the teachings, discussing the circumstances, the socio-religious context, and the key influences that might have led to their formulation. In translating the scripture, he adhered to the traditional Vedic interpretation of the slokas without being influenced by any particular school, sect, or teacher tradition. To provide additional clarity and context, he tried to bring out the original intent of each verse and the most plausible meaning of each word in the context of the times in which they were composed. Both the previous versions have been withdrawn and are no longer in circulation. In translating and presenting a detailed commentary, Jayaram has brought to light the richness of the scripture and its ageless wisdom.
Jayaram V has authored over 3000 articles and 18 books, which include such notable works as Brahman, The Awakened Life, An Introduction to Hinduism, Two translations and commentaries on the Bhagavadgita, The Essential Bhagavadgita, Brahman, The Awakened Life, Hinduism, an Introduction, Selected Upanishads, Brihadaranyaka and Chandogya Upanishads, Shiva Sutras: Mystic Knowledge Explained, The Hindu Caste System, Sacred Numbers of Hinduism and more. His writings are appreciated worldwide for their originality, quality of information, and insightful analysis and interpretation of ancient texts. Jayaram V has studied Hinduism and related religions for over 40 years and writes regularly about various aspects of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, spirituality, yoga, and self-improvement. Through his writings, he brings out the knowledge found in the ancient texts, their hidden symbolism, and the significance of various key concepts found in them, and interprets them objectively with modern insights and without sectarian biases. His scientific and spiritual background helps him examine the subjects analytically with an open mind and maintain objectivity in his writings and interpretations. He combines the mundane and finite aspects of life with the mystical and transcendental without losing sight of their spiritual and practical value in today's world. His work has helped bring the wisdom of India's oldest religious and spiritual traditions to people around the world and educate and inspire them.
