When a strange message rides the breeze and lands in the hands of a brave circle of friends, a summer at the edge of New England becomes a doorway to courage, cooperation, and discovery. The Campfire Girls Of Roselawn; Or, A Strange Message From The Air invites young readers into the enduring world of girls' club friendship, teamwork, and safe, spirited sleuthing. This classic adventure-written with warmth and clarity-captures the rhythm of campfires, shared tunes, and clever problem solving as the protagonists follow clues, trust one another, and grow in character. The story blends wholesome fun with a gentle mystery, perfect for for young readers who crave colourful scenes, vivid late-early twentieth-century detail, and characters who model kindness, leadership, and resilience. A note on literary and historical significance: this title sits within the celebrated campfire girls tradition, a cornerstone of early children's fiction that emphasises community, resourcefulness, and moral purpose. It holds appeal for casual readers seeking a comforting, well-crafted adventure, and for classic-literature collectors who value restored texts from a cherished era. Autorenporträt
Volumes 1 through 11 of the Dorothy Dale series were ghostwritten by Lilian Garis, volumes 9 through 12 by W. Bert Foster, and volumes 13 by Elizabeth Duffield Ward. A few series written by Cupples & Leon under the alias "Margaret Penrose" are published by the Stratemeyer Syndicate. The Dorothy Dale series (1908-1924), the Syndicate's first lengthy series featuring a female protagonist, was the first to utilize this name. The Motor Girls series (1910-1917), a rival to the popular Motor Boys series (1906-1924), also took the moniker in response to this success. The latest new series to bear this moniker was the Radio Girls series (1922-1923). In 1930, the show was converted into a Campfire Girls series after being sold to Goldsmith. The Burglar's Daughter was one "Margaret Penrose"-an authored book that was not a Stratemeyer Syndicate publication (Jordan, Marsh, 1899). It was a coincidence that both pen names were from the Syndicate.
