Rolf Rendtorff is Emeritus Professor of Old Testament, University of Heidelberg. For many years he was president of the "Church and Judaism" commission of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) and he is an honorary member of the Council of the World Union of Jewish Studies. He is the author of many acclaimed books, including The Old Testament: An Introduction (SCM), The Covenant Formula (T&T Clark). Translated by David E. Orton
