Autorenporträt
Howard Phillips Lovecraft was an influential American writer known for his works in weird fiction, science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Born on August 20, 1890, in Providence, Rhode Island, Lovecraft spent most of his life in New England, where he developed his distinctive style that blended cosmic horror with a sense of the unknown and unfathomable. He is best known for creating the Cthulhu Mythos, a shared universe of cosmic deities, strange creatures, and forbidden knowledge. His work often explored the insignificance of humanity in the grand scheme of the universe, leaving readers with a sense of dread and existential fear. Lovecraft s writing has had a lasting impact on the horror genre and continues to inspire writers and filmmakers today. He married Sonia Greene in 1924, and their partnership lasted until his death on March 15, 1937, at the age of 46. Despite his relatively short life, Lovecraft s work continues to be celebrated for its innovative storytelling and lasting influence on the horror genre.
