This work addresses social security protection for Mercosur workers since the Multilateral Social Security Agreement (AMSS) came into force in 2005. Our objective was to identify the criteria for access to and coverage of social security protection through the AMSS. We also noted the need to consider expanded citizenship in Mercosur, which would effectively universalise access to and coverage of this type of social protection.
