My mama kept chickens in her backyard. She called them "the golden girls," but they all had names too. She would call out to them, and they would come running, following her all over the yard! They inspired me to write a poem. Years later, my poem became this book.

Hi, I'm Rachael, the author of The Chicken Book: Chicky, Chicky, Choo-Choo! This is my first children's book, but there are soon to be more! I've also written some faith-based books and helped many authors publish their books. My Mama, born Patricia Ann Morgan "PAM," was born in Louisville, Kentucky. Her dad, my Papaw Lige Morgan, was raised in Harlen County Kentucky, in a coal-mining family.Mama and Daddy married young and raised us kids traveling around in the Army. We moved a lot, but we always had dogs and cats. I had no idea Mama secretly wanted to live on a farm! After I grew up, Mama started a garden and got chickens. It was the first time I had ever been around chickens. I was inspired by the way she called out to those chicks and how they responded. I feel like it put me in touch with family roots and history.
